How Does DesktopSMS Work?

DesktopSMS is made up of two parts: a lightweight Android app (DesktopSMS Lite) that runs on your phone, and a native Windows desktop client that runs on your PC. The two connect directly over your local network, Bluetooth, or USB cable — no internet required, no third-party servers involved.

When you send a message from your PC, it passes over the local connection to your phone, which sends it as a real SMS through your carrier, using your own phone number and SIM card. Received messages are mirrored to your desktop in real time. Everything stays between your two devices.

Getting Started: Send SMS from PC in 5 Steps

Setup takes only a few minutes. You do not need to create an account, register an email address, or configure any cloud service.

1. Install DesktopSMS Lite on your Android phone from Google Play — it’s free.
2. Download and install the free DesktopSMS Client for Windows on your PC.
3. Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network (or use Bluetooth or USB — see connection options below).
4. Open DesktopSMS Lite on your phone and make it available for pairing. Then use the desktop client to discover and pair with your phone.
5. Your SMS conversations sync to your desktop. Start texting from your PC.

Every message you send is delivered through your phone’s SIM card and stored in your phone’s native message history — exactly as if you had sent it from your phone directly.

Bulk SMS from PC: Send to Multiple Recipients at Once

From the Send New Message dialog, you can specify multiple recipients in a single go — by pasting a semicolon-separated list of phone numbers or by selecting contacts from your phone’s address book. How to Connect Your Android Phone to PC

DesktopSMS supports four different connection methods, giving you flexibility whatever your setup. All connections are direct and local — no internet routing, no relay servers.

• Wi-Fi — the easiest option for most home and office setups. Both devices need to be on the same network. Automatic device discovery makes pairing quick.
• Bluetooth — a secure, cable-free point-to-point connection. Works even without a shared Wi-Fi network. Ideal when Wi-Fi is isolated or unavailable.
• USB cable (adb) — the most reliable and fastest option. Uses Android Debug Bridge (adb). Requires enabling USB debugging once on your phone. The cable also keeps your device charged.
• Wired LAN — connect your Android device to a wired Ethernet network via a USB-C adapter. Offers the stability of a cable without occupying the USB port for adb.
